Field House Camping & Coffee Shop

Tranquil camping site in the Yorkshire Wolds

Our campsite , in the grounds of our working farm on the Yorkshire Wolds, East Yorkshire, is uniquely situated on the Way Of The Roses cycle route (Coast to Coast) within a short walking distance to the very popular Wold Rangers Way and Chalkland Way. With the bustling market towns of Beverley, Pocklington and Driffield a short drive away, it’s perfect for cyclists, walkers, runners and families to enjoy. The historic walled city of York and the east coastline can be easily reached by car within 40 minutes.

The camping field is flat and expansive, with far reaching views across the Yorkshire Wolds. Surrounded by nature, simply take a seat on the elevated calved bench to watch the sunrise whilst listing to the cheery dawn chorus from the multitude of birds nestling in the adjacent treetops or watch the fauna explore the wild flower meadow. Say hello to the two resident donkeys Tiny Tim and Bonnie or collect your own eggs for breakfast from the chickens - if you’re in luck you’ll find one of Wilma’s special blue eggs.

We welcome guests in tents and motorhomes. Alternatively for those without a tent why not hire a fully erected tipi that comes equipped with camp beds and chairs - just bring your own bedding and utensils. Sleeps up to 4 (2 adults, 2 children).

The site is off-grid and has compostable toilets and unique hot woodland showers with open roofs under the trees for a fully back to nature experience. There is a free to use solar USB charging point and we also have an electric vehicle charging point (charges apply).

The woodland play area with a tyre swing and short zip wire is a popular area for children to practice their den building.

Large dog friendly coffee shop on site serving locally sourced snacks and drinks.

What people say about us

  • Caitlin M.

We really liked that the site was eco friendly, that was a huge positive for us - from the compost toilets to care for local birds surrounding light.

Was also really easy to find.

The owner came around and greeted us also, within half hour or so of arriving.

Beautiful eco-camping! We cycled past this campsite on the Way of the Roses route. Nice experience to use the super nice shower while enjoying the open view of the canopy under the trees. Super nice owners who were very helpful! One of the nicest and also cheapest campsite we had in a three week cycling holiday. They make a covered bicycle shed and a cafe. You can buy eggs from their hens.

We had such a lovely time in the tipi on that beautiful campsite. It was the first camping trip we’ve done as a 4, with our new baby in tow and it couldn’t have worked out better. The tipi was spacious and the facilities were excellent. We’ve stayed in so many campsites and Airbnb’s over the years and those hot showers under the trees are the best we’ve ever had! It was a treat for our adventurous three year old to have the little woodland play area. We will definetely be back!

Great site located out in the sticks, so no danger of being a disturbance to anybody! There's things to do which are only a short drive away. The toilet and shower facilities we're excellent, may not be for everyone but I had no complaints. Great use of sand/saw dust for the toilets and rainwater for urinals. Staff popped around site to make sure everything was okay for us.

“An incredible find for an amazing few days camping. Everything about this place is 5 star from the location to the fascilities to the people.

The camping pitch is so well placed with incredible views across the Wolds and the surrounding countrysides. The field is very well maintained with level pitches. The eco showers and toilets were wonderful and better than many I have come across on more standard campsites! To be able to have a hot shower and to look up into the tree canopy above was a great way to start / end the day.

The hosts were so friendly, relaxed and helpful throughout my stay. Great communication from the booking stage through to departure. They were able to give advice on local walks and places to visit/eat. The walk across the fields for a couple of pints at the nearest pub was wonderful ... just stick to the paths to avoid a much longer walk than needed!!!!

I would highly recommend this site for a truly relaxing time.”

This site is set up as an eco site and has compostable toilets which work well. Lighting and water heating is via a solar panel system.

The best thing I found was the amazing showers which are in outside cubicles with a tree canopy above. Water pressure is good as is the temperature. You can even charge up your phone via solar, but take your phone leads in case your socket isn't covered.

The field is large and flat, and has far reaching views.

A number of leafy lanes offer excellent cycling opportunities; the adjacent quiet, small road is on the Way of the Roses cycle route, so it is an ideal stop off for those cyclists taking on that challenge from Morecambe to Bridlington.

The Wold Rangers Way is a walk which passes near the campsite.

There are three glamping style bell tents available for hire. A wildflower area has been created. A lot of thought has gone into making this site work. It isn't just a pop up site any more and the owners have plans for a coffee shop plus a recharging facility for e-bikes this year.

I really enjoyed my brief stay and will definitely be back-on my bike!

Amazing stay. Clean and bright shower and toilet facilities. Level pitches with plenty of space between neighbours as no marked out pitches.

An experience to shower looking up at the trees and a first using an eco toilet (not bad to be fair and not smelly as expected). Great play area for the kids to mess around in and explore. Not once did our son ask for our phone as a Nintendo substitute!!! Great getting back to nature with such stunning scenery. Hosts couldn’t have been nicer and were visible if you needed them. Third time we've stayed here this summer. Can't get enough of the place. A very well run respectful and therefore respected site. Eco friendly, remote , quiet and peaceful and if that wasn’t enough , they've only gone and recently added a zip wire in a natural woodland area on site ! Yeehaa!

It's only a 35 minute drive from the coast which worked out well for us, beautiful rural countryside and the glorious Yorkshire seaside. We hit on a cloudless night and the sky was truly spectacular! Donkeys, ponies, cows and egg laying chickens are on the farm which our 5 year old granddaughter loved. Run by an enthusiastic, friendly, accommodating family who are keen to please, I can't recommend Field House campsite highly enough.

“Just returned home from a weekend at this amazing place! Great flat field for pitching up. The toilets and showers were the best we’ve ever seen. Eco toilets are a great idea and the owner even took the time to explain to our very intrigued children how they work. The showers and toilet blocks is all set out side which really adds to the feel of camping. There is even a book swap which the kids loved! A great little park for the kids to play in and animals for the kids to pet. Absolutely great place. I would highly recommend. Thank you for a great weekend and we will be back very very soon.”

“We have stayed here a couple of times. Our young family love the site - we had parents come along this time. They enjoyed the site, facilities and location.

The owner Jonathan is lovely and checks in with you occasionally - as well as giving useful advice!

There is a zip wire and tyre swing in the wooded area, and out kids love the donkeys.

The toilets are eco toilets, but are kept clean and well stocked! The showers are lovely and hot! An added bonus that the showers are outdoors and under the trees, which is lovely!

It’s a quiet site, with limited light pollution so the sky at night was amazing. Lots of star gazing!

Everyone was respectful and kept noise to a minimum after 10/10.30pm.

The site is a great location for lots of walks, trips to the beach - Flamborough, Hornsea and Bridlington. We also ventured in to York, which wasn’t far and Driffield itself is a lovely town.

“So good! If you've never had a hot shower (or cold) under the trees, or a wee (fellas) in an eco urinal next to and under a tree, then this is the site for you. A blend of old fashioned camping with young ideas built on environmentally friendly concepts, Field House campsite Driffield is quite literally a breath of fresh air. Very tidy, very clean, simple and well organised. It offers a quiet and just remote enough location whilst welcoming families, couples and pets. A lovely newish campsite thats a cross between "Im a celebrity get me out of here" (composite toilets and eco shower blocks) and "Country File" (rural England at its best). One of the best sites i have ever been to. Loved it. Thank you. We will be back.”

Nice, back to basics camp site with a short walk through the fields accessible direct from the site (so great for those early morning dog walks).

The showers and toilet blocks were nestled nicely in the woods, with some showers open topped to add a nice woodland canopy to your daily washes. The showers were solar powered and if you timed it right the water was very warm.

Directly accessible from the camp site was a donkey enclosure and our daughter loved running over and saying hello. Adjoining this was the chicken coop and we loved grabbing some fresh eggs for breakfast in the morning.

The location was great, not a huge amount in the immediate vicinity (so very peaceful and relaxed) but a short drive away was a selection of very nice stately homes and gardens, and of course further afield you have York, Malton and Dalby Forrest.

“Had the most amazing week. The campsite although a new venture is wonderful, and has been thought out brilliantly. The showers allow you to have a beautifully hot (we were not brave enough to try the cold one) luxurious wash whilst looking up at the trees, in the open air shower it was a pure grounding to nature experience. The owners came to say hello just as we were admiring the herb bed and assured us it was fine to help ourselves to them! They were so welcoming and friendly.

The site has a permissive path which allows you to access many of the wonderful walls that the Yorkshire wolds has to offer. It's spotless and well maintained. The wildlife is an abundant joy!
